Nashville police seize 2 tons of pot

NASHVILLE, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department says it seized 2 tons of marijuana in the largest single drug seizure in department history.

Police said Tuesday the drug seizure was the result of a raid on a home near Cane Ridge High School. Nine people were arrested in connection with an alleged drug distribution ring, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported.

Police said Monday's raid came about in cooperation with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Law enforcement agents raided the Nashville property after allegedly witnessing numerous bundles being moved into the property from a box truck. Police said they suspect the marijuana seized in the raid originated in Mexico.

In addition to the marijuana, police seized nearly $400,000 in cash.

The Tennessean identified those arrested and charged with drug distribution counts as Ricardo Arana, 21; Jose Arana, 40; Raul Arana, 39; Sergio Cardinas, 40; Omar Martinez, 38; Rosalino Marin, 29; Joshua Parker, 24; Stacey Jordan, 39; and Telly Robertson, 34.
