Murdered lawyer's ex-wife denied parole

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- A San Diego woman whose anger prompted her to fatally shoot her ex-husband and his new wife can't be paroled now, the California Parole Board has ruled.

The board decided that Elisabeth "Betty" Broderick, 62, convicted of killing the couple early on a Sunday morning in 1989, is not ready to leave prison, CNN reported Friday.

San Diego District Attorney Richard Sachs told Broderick's parole hearing that the ex-wife of Harvard-educated lawyer Daniel Broderick "was totally not remorseful."

After Daniel Broderick, 44, left to marry his young legal assistant, Betty Broderick spray-painted the interior walls of his house black and tried to drive her car through the front door.

She was convicted of creeping into his bedroom and shooting him and his 28-year-old wife to death.

Broderick's case was the subject of two made-for-television movies and several books.
