NEW CANAAN, Conn., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The Connecticut law license of ex-White House counsel John Michael Farren has been lifted temporarily after he allegedly tried to kill his wife, officials say.
A hearing will be held in Stamford Superior Court in the coming weeks to determine whether the suspension should become permanent. Farren has been licensed to practice law in Connecticut since 1982.

Farren is being held on a $2 million bond, the New Canaan (Conn.) Advertiser said. He is charged with first-degree attempted murder and strangulation of his wife Mary Margaret at their New Canaan home Jan. 6.
