Mount Hood searched for missing climbers

PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Rescue teams searched Mount Hood in Oregon for three missing climbers Saturday.

The climbers, two men and a woman, were expected to return to Timberline Lodge by 2 p.m. Friday, KATU-TV reported. They had set out to climb the mountain via Reid Glacier.

The trio were reported to be experienced climbers with appropriate equipment for the winter.

Detective Jim Strovink of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department said the climbers sent a text message about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The message was not released.
