MOUNT AIRY, N.C., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Four men were shot and killed in a parking lot in Mount Airy, N.C., Sunday and police said they were searching for a suspect who was armed and dangerous.
Mount Airy Police Chief Dale Watson told reporters Sunday night the four victims -- described as Hispanic males -- were shot just after 2 p.m. EST outside a store that sells satellite dish and cable TV equipment, CNN reported.
"We do have an idea why they were there," he said.
"We don't feel that this was a random event, if that does help put the community at ease," Watson said.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and the other two were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, CNN reported.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Marcos Chavez Gonzalez, 29. Watson said Gonzalez was considered "armed and dangerous ... he may be in the possession of an assault rifle."
