Nigerians in U.S. support Boko Haram terrorist listing

ABUJA, Nigeria, July 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. government has designated three Boko Haram leaders as foreign terrorists.

Nigerians living in the United States and France are calling on U.S. President Barack Obama and the international community to list Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization based both on their actions and their international ties.

The Nigerian Coalition Against Terrorism condemned Nigerian politicians, especially those of the Northern Political Leadership Forum, for failing to condemn Boko Haram's blood-shed, saying in a statement, "Rather, the statements attributed to their membership indicate tacit support for continued Boko Haram violence as a surrogate for Islamic, Hausa-Fulani, continued political dominance of Nigeria," the Leadership newspaper reported Thursday.

NCAT also urged President Goodluck Jonathan to condemn the "endless cycle" of ethnic and religious killings in northern Nigeria, particularly the assaults against the Igbo people and other indigenous tribes in Jos, expressing concern that no Nigerian government, either at the state or federal level, has ever prosecuted anyone for the crimes.
