ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 24 (UPI) -- Pakistani intelligence officials said the bin Laden family is revealing key information about their time in Abbottabad as Islamabad considers their status.
Intelligence officials told London's pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat that Osama bin Laden's 10-year-old daughter Safiyah offered important information regarding regular visitors to the Abbottabad compound. Islamabad is keen to find out who supported the bin Laden family during their five-year stay near the Pakistani capital.
Bin Laden was killed May 2 at a compound near one of Pakistan's elite military academies by a team of U.S. Navy SEALs.
Legal experts told the pan-Arab newspaper, however, that Islamabad needs to determine the legal fate of the bin Laden family members in custody.
"If a legal case is not brought against them and if they are not referred to court, this imprisonment would be illegal," one unnamed official said.
