ODNI launches counter-proliferation site

WASHINGTON, May 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. director of national intelligence has launched a Web site designed to provide a clearer understanding of weapons of mass destruction proliferation.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced its National Counterproliferation Center has gone live with a new Web site, www.counterwmd.gov, in a move to offer transparency about the proliferation of the weapons of mass destruction threat, the office reported.

Calling weapons proliferation a top national-security challenge, the National Counterproliferation Center said the Web site is part of an effort to provide a better understanding of the threat and to explain what the intelligence community is doing to prevent proliferation.

According to a news release, the National Counterproliferation Center is one of three mission centers at the ODNI working to enhance "intelligence collaboration across the intelligence community for collection, analysis and dissemination."

The National Counterterrorism Center and the National Counterintelligence Executive are the other centers.
