'Hack' cabbie fingered as sex attacker

BALTIMORE, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- A former Baltimore prostitute says an unlicensed "hack" cabdriver strangled her and cut her ears after raping her in his vehicle.

The woman testified Tuesday at a pretrial hearing for William Vincent Brown, 42, accused by police of attacking her as well as the slayings of a 25-year-old homeless woman and a 15-year-old girl, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The woman, who was not named by the Sun, tearfully described the 2003 assault, in which she said she tried to fight the man off but eventually blacked out. She had been called to testify to determine if her attack was admissible as evidence against Brown in the two slayings. All three crimes have been linked by DNA evidence, the newspaper said.

It was "so long ago," the woman said. "I don't remember exactly what I told this one and that one."

The Sun reported that she did, however, clearly point out Brown as was the man who tried to cut her ears off and put her in a coma.

"He raped me, cut me and left me for dead in the park," she reportedly said.
