Lynch allegedly told police he and his roommate, William Calderon, 22, had been drinking Saturday when they decided to point guns at Siela, the Star reported.

"They said they wanted to scare him when he came out of the bathroom," Police Sgt. Jason Philhower said. Lynch's semiautomatic handgun discharged, the bullet hitting Siela in the neck, Philhower said.

Lynch and Calderon, both Purdue juniors from Fort Wayne, were released on bond Sunday. Calderone was charged with misdemeanor pointing of a firearm.

Siela was visiting Lynch and Calderone for the weekend but did not attend Purdue, Philhower said. Neither Lynch nor Calderone could be reached for comment, the Star reported.
