TBILISI, Georgia, May 9 (UPI) -- Georgian opposition leaders say they failed to agree on a meeting with embattled President Mikheil Saakashvili amid their calls for early elections.

"No agreement was reached during the first round of talks. The opponents were unready to conclude such an agreement," Gubaz Sanikidze, an opposition leader, said Friday.

Opposition members have threatened to block the country's major roads if Saakashvili doesn't agree to early elections and step down, RIA Novosti reported Saturday.

Month-long protests in Tbilisi against Saakashvili's administration have resulted in the injury of at least 60 people, including six police officers, RIA Novosti reported.
