3 drown, 1 missing in Chinese river

NANCHANG, China, April 18 (UPI) -- A police officer drowned trying to save three children who were swept away while swimming in a river in eastern China, authorities said Saturday.

The bodies of two of the fourth-grade students were recovered Friday and the police officer's body was found Saturday. The search continued for the third child, Xinhua reported.

The drowning occurred Friday afternoon in a river in Jiangxi Province, the state-run news agency said.
