Boy shoots 8-year-old brother

CLEVELAND, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old Cleveland boy shot his younger brother in the chest Friday with a handgun they found in their grandmother's car, police said.

Authorities said the 8-year-old victim did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

Police said the boys were playing "gangster" with a .25-caliber gun that belongs to their aunt but was in their grandmother's car.

The older boy was arrested for felonious assault. The grandmother faces a charge of failing to secure a deadly weapon, the newspaper reported.

The boys' mother was sentenced last month to four years in prison for beating the boys with an ax handle.
