Guard killed in Fla. mall store robbery

KENDALL, Fla., Dec. 1 (UPI) -- An armored-car guard was shot to death Monday during an armed robbery at a clothing store in a Miami-area mall, police said.

Police were looking for two male suspects wearing dark clothing seen running from the area with a money bag, The Miami Herald reported.

The fatal shooting occurred about 11:15 a.m. in the Express shop at Dadeland Mall in Kendall, located southwest of downtown Miami.

''It was eight shots. I heard them all. It was very scary. I'm still shaken up,'' Joanne Brown, who was shopping next door at the Limited, told the Herald.

Except for a small area near the crime scene, most of the mall remained open to shoppers after the shooting. A Dunbar armored car remained parked outside the mall.

A Dunbar spokesman said a $20,000 reward was being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Police were looking for a cream-colored 2000 Lincoln sedan with a Florida license number L83AY. One suspect was described as thin, black and about 5-foot-10, and the other only as having a heavier build. Both wore dark hooded sweatshirts.
