Texas executes man for triple homicide

HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Kevin Watts, who was convicted of killing three people in a 2002 robbery in San Antonio, has been executed by the state of Texas, witnesses said.

The San Antonio Express-News Friday said those witnessing the 27-year-old convicted killer receive a lethal injection Thursday called him calm and stoic.

Watts was quoted as asking family members to remember him and move forward in life. "Y'all keep your heads up, stay strong, keep fighting," Watts said. "I'm outta here. I'm gone. Keep me in your hearts."

Watts was convicted of killing Sam Won Garden restaurant manager Hak Po Kim and employees Chae Sun Shook and Yuan Tzu Banks during a robbery on March 1, 2002.

He was also convicted of kidnapping Kim's wife, who was sexually assaulted by Watts and another man.

The Express-News said Watts, the 11th Texas prisoner to be executed in 2008, blamed his actions on drugs and alcohol.
