Good Samaritan gets SUV carjacked

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A Fort Worth, Texas, man who thought he was helping a woman he knew ended up being assaulted and having his sport utility vehicle stolen, police said Thursday.

The unidentified 20-year-old man told police he received a call from a woman he knew as Crystal, who said she was stranded at an apartment complex, police spokesman Lt. Paul Henderson told the (Fort Worth) Star-Telegram.

The man told the woman he would pick her up and drive her where she wanted to go, Henderson said.

When he arrived, Crystal asked him to get out of his 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer so she could give him a hug, Henderson told the newspaper.

During the hug, Crystal pulled him away from the SUV and the man noticed another man walk up to the vehicle and look inside.

The SUV's owner broke free of the hug, but another man tackled him. Crystal got into the SUV with another woman, Henderson said.

The owner broke free and found two security guards, who drove after the TrailBlazer, occupied by two men and two women.

The SUV stopped and the four people inside fled, Henderson said.
