MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, told listeners in Minneapolis Tuesday he lost his skepticism during the presidential primary campaign and hoped they lost their apathy.

The congressman and one-time presidential contender kicked off his political action group, Campaign for Liberty, during his Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis while the Republican National Convention ended its second session across the Mississippi River in Minnesota's capital city, St. Paul, CNN reported..

"I lost my skepticism," Paul told the enthusiastic audience. "I hope you lost your apathy."

He entered the primaries for specific reasons.

"I did not want to run people's lives, I did not want to run the economy and I did not want to run the world. I didn't have the authority to do it, and I didn't have the Constitution behind me to do it," said Paul, a House member for more than three decades.

Rally organizers sold 10,320 tickets to the event, priced at $17.76, and gave away another 1,000 tickets at the door.
