WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- The choice of Joe Biden as the running mate for Barack Obama is unlikely to affect the presidential race, a poll indicates.

About three-quarters of registered voters contacted for a new Washington Post-ABC News poll said they would be unaffected, pro or con, by the selection of the Delaware senator. About 13 percent said the choice would make them more likely to support Obama with Biden on the ticket, while 10 percent said it would make them less likely to vote for the Democratic duo on Nov. 4 Election Day.

The polling was conducted Aug. 19-22 among a random national sample of 916 registered voters with a statistical three-point margin of error.
