WOODMANSTERNE, England, June 28 (UPI) -- A fisherman in England was socked with a hefty fine after being pictured in a magazine showing off his illegal catch, officials said.

The Times of London reported Saturday that Robert Townsend wanted a picture with the prized 6-pound, 2-ounce perch he caught. The photograph landed the Woodmansterne car dealer in court after authorities saw it and noticed he did not have a valid fishing license on file.

He was fined $398 after pleading guilty in North Surrey Magistrates' Court. The cost of a fishing license is less than $50 a year, the newspaper said.
