Coast Guard searching for missing boaters

TRACY, Calif., June 22 (UPI) -- Four young men who went missing Sunday after a boating accident off the California shore are the target of a growing search, the U.S. Coast Guard says.

Coast Guard officials said the search began after the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department informed them a 14-foot skiff had capsized early Sunday morning with 10 people aboard.

The four missing individuals involved in the accident at Tracy, Calif., were all described as Hispanic males in either their late teens or early 20s.

The Coast Guard said six others on board the boat swam to shore, but there was no sign of the missing passengers.

Sheriff's department officials said they had taken the driver of the skiff into custody because there were reports alcohol consumption had been taking place on board.

No cause for the Tracy Oasis Marina accident has been determined, but an investigation into the matter has begun.
