Security sources say the commander of al-Qaida's operational network in the North African kingdom had rented a workshop in the town to assemble explosives and detonators for shipment to Algeria.

A premature explosion occurred around May 27, Med Basin Newsline reported.

Al-Qaida in Morocco is believed to have been involved in the April 2007 suicide attack on the government center in Algiers.
