RIO DE JANEIRO, April 1 (UPI) -- Three military field hospitals were erected in Rio de Janeiro state to help combat the growing dengue fever outbreak, according to military officials.
The temporary hospitals were brought amid an outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease that has killed more than 50 people and sickened tens of thousands more, O Globo reported Tuesday.

Last week, a Brazilian judge ordered state and local authorities in Rio de Janeiro state to use private hospitals to help combat the epidemic.
Dengue produces severe flu-like symptoms and can be fatal.
