"I can confirm that there was a pipeline explosion somewhere in the creeks of Tarkwa Bay," Lagos State Deputy Superintendent of Police Frank Mbah said Tuesday night. "Officers from Lagos State police command are there."

"We got (Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation) and the Fire Service, they battled the inferno for many hours while the police provided security. I cannot confirm if the fire has been put out by now, because I am still trying to reach our men on the ground," he told the Daily Trust.
