Poll: Clinton leading among N.H. women

NEW YORK, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- A Lifetime/Zogby poll of women in New Hampshire found that U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., is leading among all Democratic presidential hopefuls.

A Lifetime/Zogby news release said Wednesday that among decided female Democrats in New Hampshire, Clinton is leading her main Democratic rival, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., by 14 percentage points overall.

The poll found that among those New Hampshire women, Clinton has earned the support of 39 percent, while Obama had 25 percent and former U.S. Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., had 9 percent.

The poll also found that among decided Republicans in New Hampshire, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is leading with 23 percent of voters' support for the Republican presidential nomination.

Among those state Republicans polled, Romney beat out U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who had 16 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

The recent poll, that included 500 New Hampshire women and 1,000 women nationwide, found that 25 percent of female voters in the state would change their vote should their candidate struggle in the upcoming Iowa primary.

New Hampshire's primary election is the first in the country. It is set for Jan. 22.
