Three Bhutto supporters killed in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Three supporters of former Pakistan Prime Minster Benazir Bhutto were killed Saturday as they slept in a campaign office.

Gunmen opened fire on an office of Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party, the PPP, in the village of Naseerabad in southwestern Baluchistan province, the BBC reported.

The attack may be linked to tribal rivalries, police told the BBC, which reported violence is common in the run up to elections, especially in remote rural areas.

Bhutto, who is registered to run in January parliamentary elections, returned to Pakistan in October after eight years in exile. Bomb blasts killed an estimated 140 people during a parade in Karachi celebrating her return.
