Riverdale police had issued the arrest warrant Friday after officially charging Murphy for allegedly starting the Budget Inn blaze that killed five and injured nine others.

Riverdale Fire Chief Billy Hayes said that during authorities' six-month investigation, they had collected evidence allegedly linking Murphy to the fatal blaze. He declined to detail exactly how the motel fire had been started, the newspaper reported.

Murphy now faces five homicide counts in relation to the blaze, along with one count of arson, one count of simple battery and two counts of aggravated assault.
