NH struggling to keep primary status

CONCORD, N.H., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- New Hampshire officials may consider holding the state's presidential primary as early as December.

New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner told Politico.com columnist Roger Simon that December is a possibility, depending on what other states decide.

Gardner said he wants to keep New Hampshire at least seven days ahead of any other primary or caucus, except Iowa, and will go no later than Jan. 8 because of Michigan's plans for a Jan. 15 primary. If Michigan Democrats move up the primary, then December would be a possibility for New Hampshire, Politico.com said.
