BLOEMFONTEIN, South Africa, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Nine South African soldiers died and 15 were injured in a training exercise near Bloemfontein, the BBC reported Saturday.
The accident was caused by a malfunctioning anti-aircraft gun during Exercise Sekoba, an annual training event involving nearly 5,000 soldiers, the Times of London reported from Johannesburg.

The accident remained under investigation Saturday, the BBC said.
