WASHINGTON, June 28 (UPI) -- A Fox News poll released Thursday has more bad news for President George W. Bush, finding that only 31 percent of U.S. voters approve of his performance.
That's the lowest approval rating the poll has ever given Bush. Sixty percent of those surveyed give him a negative rating.
Only 46 percent of self-described conservatives, and 42 percent of born-again Christians, approved of Bush's performance in office. Bush fared better among Republicans generally, with a 61 percent approval rating, but that is still his lowest approval rating ever among that group.
Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the telephone poll of 900 registered voters on June 26 and June 27. It has a 3 percent margin of error.
Only 36 percent of those surveyed approve of the job performance of congressional Democrats, and 30 percent like Republicans in Congress, Fox News said.
