Venezuela: Banned TV looks to Mexico

CARACAS, Venezuela, June 20 (UPI) -- A banned Venezuelan TV channel is looking to Mexican media outlets for help getting back on the air using satellites, Internet and cable.

The head of RCTV, Marcel Granier, said Wednesday he was speaking with networks in Mexico about airing some of RCTV's programming, Globovision reported.

Leftist President Hugo Chavez last month declined to renew the broadcast license of RCTV, claiming the private network was trying to incite unrest in the country and had called for the toppling of his administration.

Chavez replaced RCTV programming with government-approved content. However, the private station has posted several hours of new programming to YouTube.
