Vigil continues in front of Pelosi home

SAN FRANCISCO, March 23 (UPI) -- An around-the-clock vigil in front of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco house won't end until Congress votes on cutting off Iraq war funds.

Anti-war protestors camped in front of Pelosi's house have vowed to stay put even after police ordered them to remove protest signs, banners and canopies Thursday night, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Demonstrators numbering anywhere from four to 30 have occupied a street corner in front of Pelosi's Pacific Heights home since March 10 to push for a funding cutoff.

The protestors said they back Pelosi but want to pressure her to aggressively fight against the war.

A Pelosi spokesman said the speaker didn't object to the demonstration in front of her house but was concerned about her neighbors.

Police said complaints from neighbors that the protestors were blocking the sidewalks with signs and tents prompted them to order the demonstrators to take everything away.

"You guys can stay here and do whatever you want, but you can't have anything here," an officer told the demonstrators.
