Mob attacks home of child murder suspect

NEW DELHI, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- An angry mob in Nithari, India, broke through a gate Sunday at the home of a man accused of sexually abusing and killing multiple children.

The mob threw flower pots through the windows and attempted to enter the house of Mohinder Singh Pander, where several skulls and body parts of young children were found buried, before police arrived and used force to control the situation, the Press Trust of India reported Sunday.

Police said they put extra patrols in place around the compound and the area has been cordoned off.

Pander and his servant, Satish, had been attacked Saturday during a court appearance.

Satish, who was arrested Friday, confessed to killing six children, but police said they have found remains from 15 different children.

"But, deranged as he seems to be, he may well have forgotten how many children he actually killed," one officer said.

Several knives and a licensed rifle with many live cartridges were found by police in a search of the premises.
