Ahmadinejad: Don't talk down to Iran

NEW YORK, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is annoyed with the tone U.S. President George Bush uses in reference to Iran, he said on CNN.

In the interview, Ahmadinejad referred to Bush's remarks at the United Nations Tuesday when he told Iranians their leaders "have chosen to deny you liberty and to use your nation's resources to fund terrorism and fuel extremism and pursue nuclear weapons."

Ahmadinejad said such remarks were baffling, coming from a world leader.

"This is not the kind of language you speak talking with a great nation," he said. "It is an insult to a great nation."

He repeated Iran's ongoing nuclear program was strictly for peaceful purposes, and said the International Atomic Energy Agency's allegations to the contrary under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty had not been made clear.

"They have to tell us exactly what provisions of the (treaty) they are speaking of, which they believe we have not abided by," he said. "They are interested in getting more information and we are ready to cooperate with them."
