Cheney makes quick fundraiser talk in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, April 22 (UPI) -- Vice President Dick Cheney helped raise more than an expected $100,000 for the Republican National Committee by speaking at a luncheon in Indianapolis.

About 100 party faithful forked over $250 for beef and lobster mixed with Cheney's straight comments about the economy and Iraq, according to Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi.

The Indianapolis Star reports about a dozen people paid $10,000 per couple to have a private conversation with Cheney.

The event at the Columbia Club was secluded and Cheney didn't make any public comments.

The area around the venue was marked off by yellow tape and security and a group of protesters.
