Hispanics concentrated in low-paying jobs

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A new Pew Hispanic Center study finds Hispanics and whites perform different types of work in the labor market and the disparities are increasing.

The study found Hispanics concentrated in low-paying jobs and their occupational status worsening in the 1990s, the decade with the longest economic expansion in recent U.S. history.

The study used data from the Census Bureau, the University of Michigan and the National Science Foundation. It compared occupation status over time and across groups of workers, assigning scores for such things as experience and education requirements.
