NEW DELHI, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Three deadly explosions in India's capital hit a bus and markets crowded with holiday shoppers.

At least 65 people were killed in the blasts, NDTV said.

Ten people were detained after the blasts, five of them at the New Delhi Railroad Station and the rest at other train and bus stations. Police also raided several hotels.

The two markets were packed with people shopping for the major Hindu and Muslim religious festivals -- Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and Eid, the feast that marks the end of Ramadan.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who returned to the capital after cutting short a trip to the Northeast, called the explosions "dastardly acts of terrorism."

The first explosion was in a bazaar near the main railway station. The second, about half an hour later, hit one of the capital's busiest markets.

"There was a huge explosion as if LPG cylinders had gone off, it wasn't clear what happened," an eyewitness to the second explosion told NDTV. "The market was very crowded."
