North Korean vessels detained for poaching

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Russian coast guards have detained eight North Korean vessels, allegedly for poaching squid in their waters, the Novosti news agency reported.

Six trawlers and two fishing schooners were detained in the Peter the Great Bay in the Sea of Japan and were being escorted to the port of Nakhodka, near Vladivostok, for further investigation, the report said.

Coast guard officials said they found about seven tons of frozen squid on board of one of the ships and up to about 400 pounds of squid on each of the other vessels.
