Afghan market blast under investigation

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Investigators tried to determine Friday whether a blast that killed one person in a women's market in Afghanistan was a bomb or an exploding pressure cooker.

Canadian troops were sent to the Rangrazal Marketplace in Kandahar after the explosion, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. They secured the area while Afghani police searched the market.

Six people were injured. The market was supposed to be closed for Friday prayers at the time of the explosion.

In another incident, Canadian soldiers blew up a cloth bag found outside their Provincial Reconstruction Team compound. The sack proved to contain only plastic bags.
