Saudi says more needed to fight terror

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, July 24 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia says more and faster work is needed for united international efforts to fight and uproot terrorism, it was reported Sunday.

The semi-official al-Riyadh daily quoted Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz as saying he hoped that all would now work united and cooperate seriously to "dry up terrorism."

He told the paper "serious international action is needed quickly to dry up the sources of terrorism through cooperation on the highest levels and in practical terms."

Prince Nayef complained that "unfortunately, we see slow steps from the leaders and officials of the security services in this regard." He did not elaborate.

The minister said "we have had enough of condemnations and denunciation, now is the time for the world to work together to stop terrorism once and for all."

Since the Sharm el-Sheik explosions in Egypt killed 88 people Friday night, Arab leaders, Islamic groups and political parties have been demanding collective action to fight terrorism.
