Russian Communists honor Stalin

KRASNOYARSK, Russia, May 6 (UPI) -- Communists in Krasnoyarsk have installed a bust to honor late Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, Interfax news agency reported Friday.

Communist Party committee, where an earlier monument to Stalin used to stand until it was dismantled. The manufacturing and installation of the bust was financed by the party, the committee told Interfax.

A member of the Memorial human rights organization attended the unveiling ceremony and tried to present arguments against the bust, but he was denied the right to speak and forced out of the square.

Krasnoyarsk region Gov. Alexander Khloponin and Krasnoyarsk Mayor Pyotr Pimashkov both publicly opposed the installation of the Stalin bust, Interfax said.
