Killers' parents quash Columbine study

COLUMBINE, Colo., April 20 (UPI) -- A study of the deadliest U.S. school shooting six years ago Wednesday at Columbine, Colo., does not have support of the two killers' parents.

Sociology professor Del Elliot of the University of Colorado told the Rocky Mountain News without the cooperation of Wayne and Kathy Harris and Tom and Sue Klebold he didn't think the study could obtain a complete picture of all the dynamics involved.

Elliott said in the wake of numerous discussions the two couples informed him in a joint meeting last month that they would not participate.

"I thought that it could shed some new light on this tragedy," Elliott said. "I honestly believe that enough new information has come out ... and getting some insight from the parents about what was going on, I thought, would really help answer some of the nagging questions that remain."

Seniors Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold attacked Columbine with guns and bombs on April 20, 1999, killing 12 students and a teacher and wounding more than 20 others before they ended their lives in the school library.
