Four boys die of carbon monoxide in Japan

KAGOSHIMA, Japan, April 9 (UPI) -- Four Japanese junior high students died Saturday of carbon monoxide poisoning from a bonfire they made in a cave in Kagoshima, police said.

Police said Takeoka Junior High School tennis club members Mizuki Nakano, Kazuki Moi, Satoshi Jitozono and Koshiro Kawagoe, all 13-years-old, were found lying in the cave Saturday afternoon, Kyodo News reported.

Investigators found burned cardboard and other materials near the entrance of the cave, but a high concentration of carbon monoxide prevented police from conducting an immediate investigation.
