Former Japanese railway exec found dead

TOKYO, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Japanese authorities say the Seibu Railway Co.'s former chief, under investigation in an accounting scandal, was found dead Saturday in an apparent suicide.

Terumasa Koyanagi's wife found him hanging by his neck in the couple's second-floor bedroom of their Tokyo-area residence, Kyodo reported.

Police said Koyanagi, 64, left notes to members of his family, prompting them to believe he committed suicide.

Earlier this month, prosecutors questioned Koyanagi about alleged falsification of the railway operator's financial statements.
