Pelosi calls for CIA 9/11 report

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- The U.S. House Democratic leader Thursday called on the CIA to release its internal report naming those accountable for the Sept. 11 intelligence failures.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi lent her voice to others in the House calling on the CIA to release an inspector general report on those who should be held accountable for the mistakes that allowed the Sept. 11 terror attacks to be carried out without any warning.

Pelosi served on a joint congressional committee that examined the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and directed the CIA to conduct the inspector general review. Also on the committee was Porter Goss, then chairman of the House intelligence committee and now head of the CIA.

The Los Angeles Times reported the House intelligence committee wrote to the CIA two weeks ago demanding the report be released. It was supposedly complete in July. The CIA says it is still in draft form.

No CIA or FBI employees have been fired or faced other disciplinary measures in connection with Sept. 11 attacks.
