Left-wing website hacked in Germany

BERLIN, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The anti-globalization protest group Attac's German-language Web site was hacked Monday and replaced with a page connecting the group to right-wing radicals.

An unknown group posted an announcement at Attac's Web address announcing that the group had begun joint operations with Germany's banned right-wing NPD party, which pledges allegiance to Nazism.

Both Attac and the NPD denied any interaction between the two groups.

Attac leadership said the change to its Web site was most likely the work of far left radicals seeking to discredit Attac, which organizes protests against globalization.

It is not the first time other groups have tried to connect Attac to right-wing groups.

"We are 90 percent sure that left-wing radical anti-German sectarian groups are behind this action," Attac leader Peter Wahl said. "As soon as we know who exactly was behind it, we will press charges."
