Wyoming is in the heart of the breezy mountain region considered to be among the best wind resource areas in the nation. FPL President Mike O'Sullivan said Wyoming has the ability to produce wind power not only for Wyoming and Utah, but other western states as far away as California.

FPL is a subsidiary of Florida Power and Light. The project also includes PPM Energy, which is a branch of Scottish Power.
