Norwegian politician admits sex with minor

HOLTALEN, Norway, May 27 (UPI) -- A 27-year-old Norwegian politician has admitted having sex with a 14-year-old girl, eventually resorting to violence, police say.

The politician, a county council representative whose name was withheld in accordance with press policy in Norway, said the sex itself was consensual and therefore "OK."

But, it's against the law in Norway for an adult to engage in sexual relations with a person under the age of 16 and he was charged Thursday with having sex with a minor and for use of violence, Aftenposten reported.

Conviction could mean six years in prison.
