WASHINGTON, May 5 (UPI) -- Mothers of the veterans of Vietnam and other wars will be honored with handmade Mother's Day cards at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington on the Mother's Day.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund announced Wednesday that nearly 30 veteran mothers representing various groups will attend the ceremony.
Washington girl scouts will present the cards. The recipients will read the cards aloud and then place them along the base of the memorial.
The national president of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., Ann Sherman Wolcott, whose son's name, Rex Marcel Sherman, is inscribed on the memorial wall, will speak at the event and Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, will serve as master of ceremonies.
