U.K. cautions Le Pen to behave in visit

LONDON, April 23 (UPI) -- England cautioned French ultra-conservative Jean-Marie Le Pen he will be arrested if he stirs racial tension in a weekend visit, Sky News said Friday.

Home Secretary David Blunkett issued the warning, saying Le Pen was as welcome as any EU citizen, but had to remain within the law.

"If he incites, if he fosters hate, if he causes a disturbance or public disorder, then the police will take appropriate action," Blunkett said.

Le Pen is the head of France's National Front, and will visit Manchester on the invitation of the right-wing British National Party.

Glasgow member of parliament George Galloway had demanded Blunkett use his powers to stop Le Pen's entry to Britain.

"If the home secretary allows into this country someone who denies the Holocaust and who is on record as hating all Muslims, he will be siding with the neo-Nazi far-right," Galloway said.
