The trip follows the December 2003 visit to the United States of the entire Iraq National Symphony Orchestra, when it performed in a side-by-side concert at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with the U.S. National Symphony Orchestra.

The members of the Iraqi orchestra are currently in New York City working with members of the New York Philharmonic.

The group, which includes five musicians and one librarian, travels to Washington Wednesday for rehearsals and training sessions with members of the National Symphony Orchestra.

The group will return to New York City April 4 to continue their program of rehearsals with members of Silk Road Project Inc, a project started by the Department of State's CultureConnect Ambassador Yo-Yo Ma.

The program culminates with an April 8 informal workshop presentation concert at the Weill Recital Hall in New York City.
